Larry Swartz
Description:
Larry Swartz has been an educator for over 40 years and currently works as an instructor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. His work is centred on choosing and using children’s literature to build comprehension and deepen understanding of Social Justice Diversity and Equity issues. He has written several books to support teachers including Dramathemes, Better Reading Now, Deepening in-class and Online Learning and Teaching Tough Topics.
This session will help us consider how we can use children’s literature to build a deeper understanding of social justice, diversity and equity. An overview of recent picture book and fiction will be presented as well as a demonstration of practical response strategies.
